Annual Meeting
The Barranca Mesa Pool Association annual meeting, which has traditionally been held in November, is now being held as part of the spring work party as voted on earlier this year.
President’s Message
Happy Fall!
This was a very busy summer at the pool. We had many new families join our pool community, and we ended the season with 294 memberships. This is the most BMPA has seen in many years! We were also fortunate to have no big maintenance expenses this year.
A special thank you goes out to our staff, whose hard work kept the pool running and provided a safe, enjoyable environment for everyone.
Thank you all for a great season and enjoy your winter. We will be hard at work preparing for next season. If you have ideas, suggestions, or want to volunteer for projects, please reach out to the board.

Treasurer Chair Message
Our fiscal year ended 30 September. Income was higher than budgeted ($192,236.89) while expenses were nearly as expected ($165,171.01).
News for 2026: We are not expecting any big changes in expenses next summer and are continuing to budget for repairs and other improvements. The yearly assessment will be $575 ($500 base assessment + $75 work deposit) if paid by 30 April. Beginning 1 May, the assessment is $600 ($525 base assessment + $75 work deposit).
We appreciate everyone who helps to open and close the pool–it keeps costs down because we do not need to hire extra outside help. Your work deposit is refunded back to you when you volunteer 3–4 hours (or more, if you can!). You can participate in a work party, assist with various tasks that need to be done throughout the season (gardening, snack bar, etc.) or tackle projects around the pool (painting party, anyone?). This is a community resource and it will take all of us members pulling together to keep it going!

Employment Chair Message
As another great season at BMPA wraps up, we want to extend our appreciation to the incredible team that made it all happen! From our managers and guards to our basketroom staff, everyone went above and beyond, keeping things running smoothly, teaching top-notch swim lessons, ensuring patron safety, and fostering a fun, welcoming atmosphere for all.
Looking ahead to Summer 2026, our hiring process will have a few changes. We’re excited that so many of our current employees plan to return next year—what a testament to their dedication and love for BMPA! Because of this, we’ll primarily be hiring basketroomers and a limited number of guards starting in December 2025.
Applications will be available on our website, and interviews will take place in February. Hiring decisions will be based on interviews, experience, and past BMPA employment. Please note:
- All applicants must be at least 14 years old before the pool opens in late May.
- Those applying for lifeguard positions (ages 15 and up) must complete and pass the Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course before the season begins.

We’re so grateful for another memorable summer at BMPA and can’t wait to dive into an amazing 2026 season with both returning and new faces!
